The wine industry and scene in the Northwest is decidedly very rare. South of Oregon, lies some of the most well known wine growing appellations in the United States.  A short drive from the Bay Area takes you America's largest and most famous wine-producing region; covering over 3 million acres, the North Coast Appellation produces more vino than you could ever hope to see, swirl, sniff, sip, and savor. Set in an idyllic Oak Savannah landscape, a wide variety of wines are produced between the many minor appellations. In addition to Napa and Sonoma's Chardonnay, Cabernet and Sauvignon collections, the Mendocino AVA has become the leading grower of organic wine grapes, most famous for their sparkling and Rhone-style wines.
