Washington Travel Guide

Originally part of the Oregon Territory, it's the subtle differences that differentiates Washington and fuels some friendly competition between the two states. As you head north, the Cascades get bigger, the Columbia Plateau wider and the Ocean reaches in to greet the Mountains. A combination of immense flooding and glacial scouring formed this expressive landscape during the last ice age with some active volcanoes for amusement. The Puget Sound's mild waters and harbors have helped Washington become the most trade-dependent state in the nation but also offer endless options hopping from island to island whether it be on a ferry, sea-kayak or sailboat. Following the ships west out to the peninsula lies the mountains of Olympic National Park heckling the ocean and wind, anchored by its ancient forests. Or maybe peering down into the crater of Mt.
