Seattle

It's by no accident that such well-known companies as Microsoft, Boeing and Starbucks call Seattle home, since it's founding the city has attracted visionaries, independents and entrepreneurs and is now the most educated city in America. Peering out from the Space Needle at the rolling landscape of harbors and hills it's easy to understand why; set on the enchanting Puget Sound, in view of Mt. Rainier, the dramatic rise of skyscrapers downtown captures your attention with its energy and vitality.

This is the birthplace of Jimi Hendrix and the Grunge movement and continues to be a creative breeding ground for the independent performing arts. Capitol Hill, Ballard and the University District all serve as hubs for the new creative class and counterculture with an abundance of cafés, restaurants and bars to match. Tied together with bike paths and parks, year-round outdoor recreation is enjoyed through the forests and along the bluffs and beaches. Sipping on a cup of coffee, browsing the fresh produce at Pike Place Market, smelling the salt water breeze as the ships come and go, this is the epitome of Northwest city life.
