Named in honour of the Queen, this charming city carries a British civility complete with Edwardian architecture and even a daily High Tea at the Fairmont Empress Hotel. As the provincial capital, Victoria has maintained its genteel character with a bustling downtown home to its own symphony, choir, ballet, opera and numerous drama companies. The city also takes full advantage of its bay with the annual Dragon Boat, Tall Ships and Vic-Maui Yacht Race festivals, in addition to numerous other music and sporting events.

An extensive system of parks range from the naturalistic to the formal with Butchart Botanical Gardens attracting a constant stream of visitors despite the season. Dozens of museums round out the cultural offerings including the Pacific Undersea Gardens, the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria, and the Royal British Columbia Museum/IMAX National Geographic Theatre.
